Define and discuss at least three differences between acute care and extended care facilities.
Acute care facilities implies that a client in the hospital has a serious condition that needs to be closely monitored by healthcare professionals as to where the ECF's admit clients for longer periods of time. Acute care admit clients for short periods of time. Clients are often very sick and need a great deal of nursing care in acute facilities.The ECF's include nursing homes, impatient rehabilitation centers, impatient treatment centers for chemical dependency and facilities for chronic mental healthcare.Acute care facilities include Hospitals, ICU, Specialized Hospitals, Home Healthcare,hospice and respite Care.
Identify at least two types of healthcare services provided in each type of healthcare facility.
Acute Care Facilities-Administration and Admitting and Discharge
ECF's-Skilled nursing facility which provides 24 hour nursing care under the supervision of a RN. The Intermediate care facility provides 24 hour service for nursing assistants under supervision of an LPN/LVN with an RN as a consultant.

Public Health Departments, Community Health Clinics, Independent Living facilities
State at least two functions of a school nurse and an industrial nurse.
School nurse assist children who are ill or in case of emergency and provides preventive care. Industrial nurse functions for health promotion and intervention, teaching is part of there responsibility.

Standards of Nursing Practice focuses on the giver of care, the nurse and on the nursing process.
Standards of client/patient care- focuses on the standards of client care and the recipient of care which is the client.

quality assurance- a pledge to the public that healthcare services will obtain achievable goals and maintain standard excellence. its function is to make sure that hospitals are following rigid standards for ongoing quality assurance for the delievery of care being provided.
Explain the role of the client representative, advocate, or ombudsperson.
Main person is to act as a consumer advocate to resolve concerns and problems. the goal is to focus on client care, needs and concerns that may be incountered during the hospital admission. The client Rep is responsible for helping clients and there families find needed services they listen and answer questions. Rep can help find housing and restaurants. Advocate assist as needed.
Describe at least 6 methods of payment for healthcare services.
Private Insurance which cost are high and insurance company often refuses to insure anyone who is considered a health risk.
Group Insurance offers coverage for people who belong to a certain group.
Heath maintenance Organizations HMO's offer health services for a fixed monthly charge called a premium.
PPO's- are used to deliver healthcare within a managed system.
Point of Service Plan is similar to HMO and PPO in that they are all types of managed care. the POS plan also contracts with physicians and other healthcare providers.
Medicare is a federal health insurance program that is availavle to most people 65 years of age and older, some people with disabilities younger than 65, and people with end stage renal disease.
Medicaid is a joint effort of federal and state governments. is for people over the age of 65 those who are blind or disabled, or those who are members of families receiving Aid to families with Dependent Children.

Complementary is known as a different means other than traditional western medicine to cure. EX Chiropratic. Hollistic care is a philosophy that considers the whole person or the multi demensional aspects of the human being, to be in need of healthcare.
identify at least three negative impacts of consumer fraud on public wellness.
Consumer fraud is illegal. People who are experiencing pain may be willing to try anything at any cost. The general public often can not tell the difference b/w true and false claims. We must educate the cliens on detecting Frauds as a client advocate.
