How do the core values of law enforcement affect how law enforcement officers exercise appropriate authority?

The core values of law enforcement, are what defines the character of law enforcement officers on and off the job. Such values are the roadmap for making the right decisions, enabling law enforcement to act in accordance with the law and public standards.

What is Integrity?

The uprightness of character and soundness of moral principle, absolute truthfulness, and honesty.

What is fairness?

Fairness is a value characterized by freedom from prejudice or favoritism.

What is respect?

Respect is that we acknowledge the rights and values of other people.

What is honesty?

Honesty is referring to telling the truth, i.e., not lying, but honesty also means being trustworthy, reliable, truthful and sincere.

What is courage?

Courage is the ability to control while under the influence of danger or fear, and the ability to do what is necessary.

What is compassion?

Compassion is inherent to understanding or sympathy for victims, or another's suffering. While having the ability to restore order to others' lives while controlling and understanding personal feelings, which influence individual actions.
