Who makes up the Board?
|
The Board of consists of 5 members (all are PPs) each appointed by the governor (and confirmed by the senate). Two consumer members (non planners) also appointed by the governor and 1 representative of the NJ DCA

How long do Board members serve?
|
5-year terms , but the term of one board member expires each year

What are the primary duties of the Board?
|
1. Review content and duration of planning curricula of the purpose of approving specific programs of study;
2. Qualify, examine, and license planners-in-training and professional planners (PPs). 3. Update and annually publish the roster of licensed professional planners 4. Provide each licenses professional planner with the design of a seal to be used on every instrument issued by the planner. |

Who is a planner-in-training?
|
1. Person who is a potential candidate for licensure
2. A graduate of an approved planning curriculum of 4 or more years from an accredited planning school 3. Or a person, who in lieu of such graduation, has 4 or more years of ecperience in approved planning work and has passed "an examination in the fundamental planning subjects" (AICP) |

To qualify for licensure, the PP must at a minimum...

1 .. Be of good moral character
2. be a citizen of the U.S. or have delcared his/her intention to become a citizen of the U.S. 3. pass the rquired examinations covering the history of planning; fundamental theories; research methods and common basic standards used in professional planning; administrative and legal issues and tools; current planning design and techniques; and NJ state planning law, proceduares, and practices per the MLUL 4. Possess education experience in one of the following: a graduate degree in professional planning an accredited undergraduate degree in a curriculum offering a major option comprising a minimum of 21 credit hours, with a mimum of 4-years full-time planning experience graduation from a secondary school and at least 12 years of experience in professional planning |

General layout of a preliminary site plan for a multiple building project, showing the development elements, including their relationship to the site and immediate environs; 5. General location of facilities, site improvements, and lot layouts |

On which documents is the planners seal placed?

On the 1st page of any report and on each map or drawing if submitted separately. Maps of existing conditions need not be sealed

Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA); AG's office investigates and prosecutes any charges of misconduct
