Mandatory minimums and limits

UIM - not required, can get up to liability maximum

|

Measuring vehicle
|
Vehicle involved in the accident. An individual "has" a vehicle in the accident when the individual owns a vehicle in the accident. But ownership is not required to stack, only must be a Class I.

Stacking limits
|
UM coverage for uninvolved vehicles may not be stacked in an amount greater than $25,000. UM coverage over that amount is considered excess and may not be stacked.

If none of the insured's vehicles is involved in the accident, coverage is available only to the extent of coverage on any one of the vehicles with excess or UIM coverage.

Class I insured with UIM coverage
|
Class I insured with UIM coverage on the car involved in the accident in excess of the basic statutory limits may stack UIM coverage from other policies in an amount EQUAL to coverage on the measuring car.
