Privacy Issues - Social Networking, E-mail, e-commerce sites, all erode privacy issues.
Gambling Addiction - Can cause many social issues, usually starts with a special offer £10 tripled to £30 etc. Obesity - Less physical activity due to technology which causes people to become less healthy and possibly obese. Addiction to Games - People spend a lot of time on games, can stop people working and social skills can be affected. Effects on communities - Internet shopping could mean that local shops may have to shut down. Censorship - Limiting what a person can or cannot see on the internet. |

Misleading Information - People can deliberately set up websites with false info or edit them e.g Wikipedia
Bullying - People can bully others through chat rooms, E-mails and social networking sites. Bad Communication - Getting made redundant or fired, etc. through an E-mail for example, when face-to-face would have been more appropriate Spreading Rumours - People can post a rumour about someone on the internet, and cause distress. Grooming - paedophiles can use the internet to easily contact kids and make 'friends' with them. |

Plagiarism - Copying material without the owner knowing e.g Buying exam answers.
Spam - E-mails sent to millions of people, usually advertisements. Monitoring - Companies using software to see what it's workers look at/are doing. Piggy Backing - Stealing someone's wireless internet connection without their permission. Photo Editing - Editing photos using specialist software, meaning you can no longer believe what you see in the media. |

The Internet is for everybody and no one actually owns it.
There is little control over the content of the material on the Internet, or the people who can access the material on the Internet. This means that children can easily gain access to pornographic or violent images. There are laws covering the production and distribution of this material but if the material comes from other countries, where it is legal, not much that can be done to stop it. The lack of ‘policing’ of the Internet also means that the information is not checked to make sure that it is accurate it is therefore up to the users of the Internet to check the material’s accuracy. |
