Boundaries |
A boundary is a space adjacent to the effected compartment. It helps isolate the fire, flood, smoke or toxic gas to that specific space only. Only. There will be at least 6 boundaries in most cases, as long as the ship allows it. Some spaces will require boundaries to be set up and down multiple decks or levels. |

Vertical Boundaries |
To control vertical fire spread, you must apply a maximum of one inch of water to the deck of the compartment immediately above the fire to prevent heat transmission through the deck. |

Smoke Boundaries |
Used to control the spread of smoke and keep it in as few compartments as possible. |
|
Smoke Curtain |
Placed over doors and secured to it. By using clamps. It has a chain at the bottom to keep it from blowing or moving around. |
|
Smoke Blanket |
Placed over hatchets and secured to it by clamps. It is relatively heavier than the smoke curtains, and it has no chain. |
