How can you acknowledge a fault alarm?

Reset the alarm by pushing the alarm acknowledge tile button.

How do you reset an auxiliary engine fault?

The fault is reset locally on the auxiliary engine outside the train.


- Turn the switch off or press the red stop button on the Control Panel. The fault should clear.


- Turn the switch to hand or press the green start button. The engine should start immediately.


- Turn the switch to auto or press the auto button. The engine should remain running.


The train may need to be moved away from a platform to undertake this task.


The latches on the skirt need to be undone to access the auxiliary engine Control Panel but note that the skirt does not need to be physically removed from the train as the engine can still be accessed simply by swinging the skirt out slightly.

If the park brake tile is illuminated, what could you check?

Check the main res pressure is above 480kpa.

If you have a brake computer fault, what could you do?

The brakes are locked on:


- isolate EP brake on faulty car


- operate train using secondary brake controller

If you have an air conditioner fault, what should you do?

- check 24v and 415VAC circuit breakers


- check HVAC circuit breaker, wait a few seconds, then turn on again


- fill in fault reports

What are the minimum standards for the vlocity brake system?

- one compressor per two car unit


- SBC fully functional


- emergency brake must be functional from PBC or emergency brake push button and emergency cock


- the brakes can be isolated on one bogie per unit but the speed limit may not exceed 120k/h

How do you isolate the VC?

- open cab elec locker


- break seal and rotate vigilance isolate switch to isolate position


- inform train controller


- send fault report


Note: if the warning light and audible alarm need to be isolated, trip out the VC circuit breaker.
