How do you rectify an another cab operative light? |
Physically inspect each cab for a controllers key or cleaners key, and check fault lights to see if other can operative status light is illuminated (will be extinguished in activate cab)
Insert your key into each to try and rectify the fault, as you are energising and de-energising the other cab operative alarm system

|
How do you deal with a FDCL at a station? |

What do you do if a pantograph fails to raise? |
Check voltmeter If no voltage, check battery box isolation switch If it is isolated, report it to TC If it isn't isolated, you are disabled If you have under 90v, you are disabled If you have above 90v, check panto buttons and attempt to raise from another cab If they fail to raise after that, check the 3 way panto switch is in auto, panto CBs 1&2 set Raise manually if TC gives permission |
|
What do you do if a panto fails to lower? |
Will have to manually lower and isolate the panto via train stable and turning the three way switch to manually lower and isolate If it fails to lower during train stable, have to manually crank it down via the crank switch |
|
How do you isolate a panto? And do you need special permission to do so? Why? |
Stable the train and note that the pantos have lowered Go to the T car and turn the three way switch to the manual lower and isolate Turn the crank handle anti clockwise to lower Submit TMM
You need special permission from TC, because isolating a panto means that you are running in a degraded mode as you have lost your high voltage and low voltage system, only have battery power for that unit : HIGH RISK |
|
When there is a loss of overhead, will the pantos drop? |
No as the electric panel motor will stay mechanically locked in the raised position |
|
Where is the crank handle? |

That a circuit breaker has tripped |
|
What do you do if you have a traction fault? |
You will get a traction fault light and a 1 or more traction eq fault light
The TCU will self isolate the fault, but you want to get rid of the 1 or more traction eq fault light
Go into each cab and find the 1 or more traction eq fault light by activating the cab, turn that cabs traction isolate switch to isolate to extinguish the light
The traction fault light will remain illuminated only where the fault is |

Attempt to fix by stabling the train |
|
If the step light is out upon arrival to a train and opening the door, what could this indicate? |
Defective step light Isolated or flat batteries Battery box fuse has blown or gone missing No permanent line voltage |
|
How do we determine if a bogie had been isolated, and then locate? What is procedure once located? |
You will get the 1 or more bogies isolated fault light in the cab
Go check the brake indicators outside for a green one, indicating that the brakes have released
Find out via TMM or TC the reason for isolation, either reinstate or run as bogies isolated speed ( up to 60 normal, over 60 = 10 km under) |
